Wang, Xiao Jun Partner
Mr. Wang obtained his LLB from China People’s University in 1983 and LLM from the Graduate School of China’s Academy of Social Sciences in 1986. After graduation Mr. Wang practiced for two years in Beijing before he moved to London to work as a Chinese legal consultant in an English firm. In 1991 Mr. Wang moved to Hong Kong and passed the PCLL examination in 1992, becoming the first PRC lawyer to qualify to practice law in Hong Kong.
In 1992 Mr. Wang joined the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE) as a member of its legal expert group for the preparation of the H share listings of PRC companies on the HKSE.
Mr. Wang joined Richards Butler, a British law firm in 1993 as a solicitor, and specialized mainly in IPO work as well as Red Chip and H share listings on the HKSE.
In 1996, Mr. Wang became an investment banker and joined Peregrine Capital Ltd as an associate director. In 1997, he joined ING Barings as a director and was predominantly in charge of the PRC related M&A and IPOs of ING Barings.
In 2001 Mr. Wang left the investment banking business to return to legal practice and established X.J.Wang & Co, which was associated with JunHe in 2005. Since then Mr. Wang has been a partner of JunHe until he retired from JunHe in 2019.
Mr. Wang specializes in the capital market and merger & acquisition, he was named by AsiaLaw as a Leading Lawyer in Capital Markets & Corporate Finance in the years 2008 – 2010 and 2012 - 2018.
